Ambassador Charles S. Shapiro, Senior Advisor for Economic Initiatives, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs
On June 23rd, Ambassador Charles Shapiro spoke in Toronto to the Canadian Council for the Americas about U.S. relations with Latin America and the Caribbean. Shapiro, who is Senior Advisor for Economic Initiatives in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at State Department, noted that Latin America had emerged relatively well from the financial crisis and is expected to grow 5% this year. He urged Canadian and US banks to collaborate on initiatives to help small businesses in Latin America access bank loans.
